Book a Lisbon photo shoot if you’re traveling abroad.

You’ve planned your trip to Lisbon, but have you booked a photo shoot?

This lovely family came all the way from Norway to celebrate their mother’s 50th birthday with a Lisbon photo shoot. They wanted to book a photo session with us since they were staying near Sintra. But instead of going to Lisbon, we suggested taking some photos within walking distance from their hotel.

Here are 3 helpful tips to have a fantastic photo session with your family

1. Choose a location around Lisbon for a photo session close to public transportation or within walking distance.

Lisbon has a very efficient and affordable bus and train system. So if you’re planning to travel from one part of the city out to Sintra or Cascais, you can always take public transport to your photoshoot.

The first image of Sintra that comes to mind is always the heavy mist that sits on its hills. Covered by low clouds, and strong dark greens from the lush forest. Most people have no idea that Sintra is hidden in the Lisbon district. It’s the mysterious Sintra that has inspired so many artists to paint its natural beauty.

In addition, there are many hire car and private transport options around the Lisbon area.

2. Ask your professional photographer when is the best time to book your photo session.

When the weather is hot in Lisbon, you can find cooler weather in Sintra most of the year.

Warm weather and clear skies make it great for sightseeing but it can be a bit challenging for photos. Fortunately, there are plenty of cooler places in the shade of the trees of the many parks around Lisbon and Sintra.

Just walking distance from the center of old town Sintra, are many little locations like public gardens to take the best photos. An experienced photographer will always try to choose the best light for your photo session.

In general, we like to shoot closer to sunset or early morning light, but that’s not always convenient for our clients. So, you can book with us at any time of day and let us do our magic for you.

3. Plan what to wear and coordinate some fun looks for the best photos.

A color-coordinated photo session might sound cheesy but it’s really important to choose outfits that fit will stand out in your photos.

We always suggest using a combination of solid colors and patterns especially if you’re shooting in nature like in Sintra for example. If you’re looking for more of a beach look, check out this post because neutral and pastel colors are also a great choice.
